Vietnamese coffee is famous for its distinct taste and unique ways of preparation. It is made from coffee beans grown in Vietnam, the second largest coffee producer in the world, right after Brazil. Vietnam is particularly known for its robusta coffee beans.
But Vietnamese coffee is not just about the beans. It also involves a specific style and preparation method. Traditionally, it is enjoyed with sweetened condensed milk, using a Phin drip method or brewing a very strong coffee. This has become an important part of the Vietnamese diasporic culture.
In Vietnam, people commonly enjoy coffee with sweetened condensed milk. However, the presence of condensed milk does not define a Vietnamese coffee beverage. Many Vietnamese people also prefer their coffee black.
The key factor in calling it Vietnamese coffee is using coffee beans from Vietnam. Using beans from other countries and adding condensed milk is unfair to the hard work of Vietnamese farmers and the farmers from the actual coffee-producing origin. It is important to give transparency, representation, and visibility to all farmers worldwide.
We suggest enjoying the coffee within a span of two to four weeks. As time passes, coffee, especially ground coffee, undergoes oxidation and its flavour alters, similar to other food items.
In our opinion, our robusta coffee beans age exceptionally well and become even more delightful over time. Even after two months from the roasting date, the chocolatey aroma becomes more noticeable.
Robusta beans contain 60% less sugar and fat compared to Arabica beans. Additionally, Robusta beans have almost twice the amount of caffeine as Arabica beans. This distinction implies that Robusta beans possess a stronger and bolder flavour profile.Â
On the other hand, Arabica beans have lower caffeine levels than Robusta beans. They also contain 60% more sugar and 60% more fat than Robusta beans, resulting in a lighter, sweeter, and fruitier taste.
Ngon Coffee Roasters engages in direct trade, collaborating directly with Vietnamese farmers without any intermediaries. All business communication with the farmers takes place in Vietnamese through chat and email. This approach fosters a strong, transparent, and sustainable relationship based on trust and honesty.
Single origin coffee signifies that the beans come from a single country, and in some cases, a specific city or farm. This distinction is significant as it often implies a superior quality of beans. Unlike blends that combine beans from different countries, single origin coffee allows for better control over the production quality of each country involved.
